Monday 8th June Update - Back to school

Dear Parents and Students,   Update as of 15:12 on Monday 8 June 2020 I hope you and your loved ones are well.  This morning Rosie, Lily and Emily, our Headgirl team, and I welcomed many of our staff back to our College.  It was lovely to have the girls with us and to hear them say thank you to our staff on behalf of our students.  It was equally lovely to see dear colleagues.  In that very odd moment of seeing people sat 2m apart in the hall, the past 12 weeks seemed, simultaneously, so long and to have gone in a flash.  Time plays with our memory.   What do we know?

  • We are ready and excited to welcome Year 10 back tomorrow and Year 12 on Monday 15 June - a huge thank you to our Site Team for their magnificent efforts in preparing the campus.
  • Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 are in their final week of revision lessons before their Exam week - Good luck girls.  Please remember these exams are designed to give us a sense of what we need to plan for when you return.
  • GCSE and A Level Centre Assessed Grades have been submitted.
  • Former JCG students are offering online sessions with Year 12 re. university, course choices and life after JCG.
  • As we begin the transition of our new students into our College family, Year 13 students will be visiting primary schools with Mr Palfreyman and Mrs Hughes.
  • Our Annual Survey is published today - please see the attachment and thank you to everyone who responded.

And finally, you may remember, in the time before Covid-19, I wrote to you about the creation of Harry's Garden; a place of calm positivity and quiet reflection in memory of Harry Zambon.  I am delighted to inform you that last week we received planning permission and, thanks to the incredible generosity of JCG parents and friends of Harry, we have the funds to make this a truly special place and a wonderful addition to our campus.  Work is due to commence at the end of this term with the aspiration to have it open for the return of the College in September.  The purpose of this garden was important then.  It's even more important now.   Take care.   Yours, Carl Howarth Principal   [pdf-embedder url="https://jerseycollegeforgirls.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/JCG-Annual-Survey-Feedback-2020.pdf" title="JCG Annual Survey Feedback 2020"]
