This week, Year 8 pupils got to meet Penny Joelson, the author of 'I Have No Secrets' which they are studying as part of a Transformation Writing component which not only encourages them to think about writing from other perspectives but challenge their own perceptions of people with disabilities.
It is almost unheard of to be able to meet the author of a text you are studying so this was a huge opportunity for the students.
Penny talked about her writing journey, how she got published and even explained how a book is printed before leading a workshop inspired by her own writing process.
Students had the opportunity to learn how an author writes and what it takes to publish books, as well as ask about the characters.
