Content

Your Robot Challenge Day will include

  • Expert instruction on building Lego Spike robots
  • Challenges and competitions with the robots you build
  • Teams of students from across the island
  • 20+ teams learning and competing creatively
  • Multiple Lego Robot Kits for the students to engage with

Creative Minds Robot Challenge Day is sponsored by Ports of Jersey, Rathbones and Geomarine who have enabled us to open this Challenge to primary schools across the island and will be supporting with engineering expertise and volunteers.

"The children had a fantastic time exploring and creating with the robots, and it was so wonderful to see them engaged and excited about learning. I was impressed by how the children grew in confidence over the course of the day. Witnessing their progression and witnessing their perseverance and problem-solving skills develop was truly inspiring and I have no doubt that they will carry this confidence into other areas of their learning. The day helped them to develop creatively, collaboratively and critically, and I think they surprised themselves with what they could achieve!"                      Sam Tanner - Deputy Headteacher, Grands Vaux

"I thoroughly enjoyed the Robot Challenge Day. I am a full-time computing and STEM teacher in 3 primary schools, so this was a real treat to see how activities can be done with large groups and also use Lego Spike Kits which are very intuitive and a step up from the resources normally available in schools. It was amazing how quickly the time went and to see the children engaged for the whole time and the enthusiasm for the dramatic finale was great."         Max Livesey - Computing and STEM Teacher

"Sponsoring the primary school robot challenge day was a privilege. All the children were enthused, educated and entertained. Their technical knowledge and ability to absorb new tools and techniques was remarkable. With 20 schools represented by 65+ children, JCG Foundation should be proud of their inclusivity."            Phil Horsley - Managing Director, Geomarine
